Nutcracker Stocking Mini Crochet Pattern

The Nutcracker Stocking Mini Crochet Pattern was designed for our 12 Days of Christmas Yarn Advent for 2021.  This mini stocking needs approximately 70 yards of dk weight yarn which is perfect for those mini skeins of yarn that you have. 

Materials

·        Yarn: DK, Weight 3; Leither Co. 12 Days of Christmas Nutcracker Colorways.

·        Yardage: 450 yds. (Full Size)

·        Yardage: 70 yds. (Mini Size)

·        Hook: H (5.00mm)

·        Tapestry Needle, Scissors, Measuring Tape and Stitch Marker

Sizing

·        Gauge: 18 Stitches and 14 Rows = 4”x4” (hdc)

Pattern Key

·        St/Sts: Stitch(es)

·        Sl St: Slip Stitch

·        Ch: Chain

·        Sc: Single Crochet

·        Hdc: Half Double Crochet


Special Stitches:

HDC2Tog (Half double crochet two together): Yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop, yarn over and insert hook into next stitch and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through all 5 loops on hook. 

 

Notes

·        Chain 1 will NOT count as a stitch.

·        Joining: When ending the rounds, you will join with a slip stitch into the 1st stitch (not the chain 1). Until you reach the last round of the toe, then you will be working in continuous rounds.

·        Pattern includes instructions to make both the full-size skein stocking and mini size.

Toe

Make a Magic Ring,

Round 1: Ch 1, 7 sc in loop, join with a sl st in the 1st sc, pull tight. - 7

Round 2: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 14

Round 3: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next st; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 21  

Round 4: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 28

 

Foot

Round 5: *(1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc) in next st, skip next st; repeat from*, around, do not join. – 28

Rounds 6-11: *(1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc) in next ch 2 sp; repeat from*, around, do not join. – 28

 

Heel

Row 1: 2 hdc in the next 5 ch 2 sps, leave remaining stitches unworked - 10

Rows 2-5: Ch 1 and turn, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 9 sts. - 10

Row 6: Ch 1 and turn, work 1 hdc2tog in same st and next st, *work 1 hdc2tog in next 2 sts; repeat from across. - 5

Row 7: Ch 1 and turn, work 1 hdc2tog in same st and next st, 1 hdc in next st, work 1 hdc2tog in next 2 sts. – 3

 

Ankle

Round 1: You will now be working in the round again at it is broken up into four sections, along the first side, across the front, along the second side and then along the top of the heel.

Working Across the First Side: (1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc) in same st, skip next 2 sts, (1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc) in next st, skip next 2 sts, (1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc) in same st as last st of row 1 of the heel Working Across the Front: *(1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc) in next ch 2 sp; repeat from*, 9 times

Working Across the Second Side: (1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc) in same st as the first st of row 1 of the heel, *skip next 2 sts, (1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc) in next st; repeat from*, twice.

Working Across the Top: Skip next st, (1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc) in next st, skip next st; repeat from*, do not join. - 32

Rounds 2-12: *(1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc) in next ch 2 sp; repeat from*, around, do not join. – 32

Round 13: *1 sc in next sc, skip ch 2 sp, 1 sc in next sc; repeat from*, around, join. – 32

 

Cuff

Chain 6

Row 1: 1 sc in the 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in next 4 sts, sl st into the next 2 sts of the stocking. – 5

Row 2: Ch 1 and turn (skip over the sl sts), 1 sc in next 5 sts. – 5

Row 3: Ch 1 and turn, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in next 4 sts, sl st into the next 2 sts of the stocking. – 5

Rows 4-32: Repeat Rows 2 and 3.

Row 33: Ch 1 and turn, sl st rows 1 and 32 together 5 times. 

Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

Hanging Loop 

Make a slip knot, leaving a tail long enough to sew the loop onto the stocking.

Chain 17

Row 1: 1 sc in the 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in next ch and each ch across. – 16

Row 2: Ch 1 and turn, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in next st and each st across. – 16

Fasten off and leave a long tail to sew the loop onto the stocking.

To sew the loop on the stocking, sew the loop along the beginning stitch and last stitch of the last round before the cuff.
