The acorn beanie is worked with puff stitches, so it won't be overly warm for those cool but not yet freezing days! So grab your yarn and hooks and have fun!! - Yarn: Medium, Weight 4; Example made with Vanna’s Choice (Chocolate & Kelly Green) and Loops and Threads Impeccable (Soft Taupe)
- Hooks: H (5.00mm)& K (6.50mm)
- Tapestry Needle, Scissors and Measuring Tape
- Optional: Fiber Fill

- Gauge: 12 Stitches and 10 Rows = 4”x4” (hdc)
- These measurements are approximated, measure head to get accurate sizing needed.

Special Stitches:
● Puff Stitch: Yarn over, insert hook in the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and insert hook into the SAME stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and insert hook into the SAME stitch, yarn over and pull yarn through all 7 loops, chain 1 to lock puff stitch into place.

Notes:

You Need Your K Hook and Brown and Taupe Yarn.
Make a Magic Ring,
Round 1: Ch 1, 7 sc in loop, join with a sl st in the 1st sc, pull tight. - 7
Round 2: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 14
Round 3: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next st; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 21
Round 4: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 28

Repeat Round 8 until the beanie measures 4.5” for newborn size or 5” for 1-3 months size old, then continue to brim.
Join with Taupe:

Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.
3-6 Months: (Circumference 15-16” and Height 6”)
Round 6: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 4 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 4 sts; repeat from*, join. - 41

Acorn Topper
You Need Your K Hook and Brown Yarn
Make a Magic Ring,
Round 1: Ch 1, 5 sc in loop, join with a sl st in the 1st sc, pull tight - 5
Round 2: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, end with 1 hdc in same st, do not join. - 10
You are now working in continuous rounds, use a stitch marker to mark first stitch.
Rounds 3-5: 1 hdc in next st and each st around, do not join. - 10 Join.
Fasten off and weave in any loose ends, leaving a long tail to sew onto the center top of the beanie.
Optional: Add Fiber Fill inside the topper to help keep its full shape.
Leaf
You Need Your H Hook and Green Yarn
Make a Slip Knot leaving a 10 inch tail
Ch 9
Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 hdc in next st, 1 dc in next 3 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in next st, sl st in next st.You are now going to turn and work on the other side of the base chain.
Row 2: Ch 1, sl st in next st, 1 sc in next st, 1 hdc in next st, 1 dc in next 3 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in next st, sl st in next st.
Fasten off and weave in any loose ends, sew the side where you made the slip knot tail onto the beanie, sewing just the corner of the leaf onto beanie.
