So today, I am bring you a new pattern, called the Addison Cowl and it is the sister pattern to the Addison Beanie.  After designing the Addison Beanie, I became really intrigued with this stitch combination, I wanted to make more pieces to have a coordinating set.  The Addison Cowl is a one size fits all and will fit children, teens and adults.  The color choices are endless for this gorgeous texture!!  So grab your yarn, hook and get ready to get hooked on the Addison Cowl.

Materials

  • Yarn: Medium, Weight 4; Example made with Vanna’s Choice (Scarlet)
  • Hook: K (6.50mm)
  • Tapestry Needle, Scissors and Measuring Tape

Sizing

  • Gauge: 14 Stitches and 7 Rows = 4”x4” (dc)

Pattern Key

  • St/Sts: Stitch(es)
  • Sl St: Slip Stitch
  • Ch: Chain
  • Sc: Single Crochet
  • Hdc: Half Double Crochet
  • Dc: Double Crochet

Special Stitches: 

FPDC (Front Post Double Crochet): Yarn over, insert hook under the post of the stitch. Yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through last 2 loops.

BPDC (Back Post Double Crochet): Yarn over, insert hook from the back to front around post of stitch (from right to left), yarn over & pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops, yarn over, pull through last 2 loops.

Notes

  • Chain 1 will NOT count as a stitch.
  • Joining: When ending the rounds, you will join with a slip stitch into the 1st stitch (not the chain 1).



Addison Cowl:

(33 Inches Circumference and 5 ½ Inches Tall)

You Need Your K Hook and Your Yarn Color of Choice

Round 1: Double Crochet Foundation 108, join with a sl st into the 1st dc to make a circle.

Round 2: Ch 1, 1 dc in same st, *1 fpdc in next 3 sts, 1 bpdc in next st; repeat from*, until the last 3 sts, 1 fpdc in the last 3 sts, join.  - 108

Round 3: Ch 1, 1 dc in same st, *1 dc in next 3 fpdc, 1 fpdc in next bpdc; repeat from*, until the last 3 sts, 1 dc in last 3 sts, join.  - 108

Repeat Rounds 2 & 3 until the cowl measures 5.5 inches tall, ending with Round 2.

Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.
