Materials
- Yarn: Medium, Weight 4; Yellow, Black, White. Example made Vanna’s Choice (Ducky, Black & White)
- Hooks: H (5.00mm) & K (6.50mm)
- Tapestry Needle, Scissors and Measuring Tape
- 4 Buttons: 2 for eyes & 2 for cheeks.
- Optional: Fiber Fill for the Stinger
Sizing
- Gauge: 12 Stitches and 10 Rows = 4”x4” (hdc using K Hook)
Pattern Key
- St/Sts: Stitch(es)
- Sl St: Slip Stitch
- Ch: Chain
- Sc: Single Crochet
- Hdc: Half Double Crochet
- Dc: Double Crochet
Notes
- Chain 1 will NOT count as a stitch.
- Joining: When ending the rounds, you will join with a slip stitch into the 1st stitch (not the chain 1).
Bee Beanie 0-3 Months: (Circumference 13-14” and Height 5.5”)
You Need Your K Hook and Black and Yellow Yarn.
Start with Black Yarn and Make a Magic Ring,
Round 1: Ch 1, 7 sc in loop, join with a sl st in the 1st sc, pull tight. - 7
Round 2: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 14
Round 3: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next st; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 21
Round 4: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 28
Round 5: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 3 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 3 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 35
Change to Yellow (Now you will begin alternating between yellow and black every two rounds)
Round 6: Ch 1, 1 dc in same st, *1 sc in next st, 1 dc in next st; repeat from*, join. - 35
Repeat Round 6 until the beanie measures 5 inches tall for a newborn or 5.5 inches tall for a 1-3 months. Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.
Face: (3 ¼ inches in diameter)
You Need Your K Hook and Yellow Yarn.
Make a Magic Ring,
Round 1: Ch 1, 7 sc in loop, join with a sl st in the 1st sc, pull tight. - 7
Round 2: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 14
Round 3: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next st; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 21
Round 4: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 28
Round 5: Ch 1, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in next st and each st around, join. - 28
Fasten off and weave in any loose ends, leaving a long tail to sew onto the beanie, but before sewing on the face, continue to the eyes, cheeks and mouth sections.
Eyes:
You Need Your Tapestry Needle, Black Yarn and 2 Buttons.
Sew two buttons on the face as eyes, (see photo for placement).
Cheeks and Mouth:
You Need Your Tapestry Needle, White Yarn and 2 Buttons.
Sew two buttons on the face as eyes, (see photo for placement).
To make the smile with the tapestry needle, first take a long strand from one cheek to the other, then using a smaller strand across the center of the mouth to keep it in place.
Fasten off and weave in any loose ends. Once accessories are added to the face, sew the face onto the beanie.
Antennas: (Make 2)
You Need Your H Hook and Black Yarn.
Chain 10,
Row 1: 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sl st in the remaining 8 sts. – 3 sc & 8 sl st
Fasten off and weave in any loose ends, leaving a long tail to sew the first 3 sts of the antennas on above the face.
Tushy Cover: (6 ½” diameter)
You Need Your K Hook and Black and Yellow Yarn.
Start with Black Yarn and Make a Magic Ring,
Round 1: Ch 1, 7 sc in loop, join with a sl st in the 1st sc, pull tight. - 7
Round 2: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 14
Round 3: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next st; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 21
Change to Yellow

Stinger
You Need Your H Hook and Black Yarn.

Round 2: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 6
Round 3: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next st; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 9
Round 4: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 12

Fasten off and leave a long tail to sew onto the center of the tushy.
Optional: Stuff the stinger with fiber fill to keep the stingers shape.
