I ran errands today and the stores has Halloween decorations out and I thought it was time to add some more Halloween patterns to the blog and the first one is the Candy Corn Beanie.  The Candy Corn Beanie is a super simple beanie to make but you get to have fun with the colors to give it that Candy Corn look! If you know simple crochet stitches, then you will be able to grab your hook and make the adorable Candy Corn Beanie.

Materials

  • Yarn: Medium, Weight 4; White, Orange and Yellow. Sample is made with Vanna’s Choice (White, Goldfish and Ducky)
  • Hook: K (6.50mm)
  • Tapestry Needle, Scissors and Measuring Tape

Sizing

  • Gauge: 12 Stitches and 10 Rows = 4”x4” (hdc)
  • These measurements are approximated, measure head to get accurate sizing needed.

You Need Your K Hook, White, Orange and Yellow Yarn

Start with White Yarn, Make a Magic Ring,

Round 1: Ch 1, 7 sc in loop, join with a sl st in the 1st sc, pull tight. - 7

Round 2: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st around, join. - 7

Round 3: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 14

Round 4: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next st; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 21

Round 5: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 28

Change to Orange Yarn

Round 6: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 3 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 3 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 35

CONTINUE TO THE SECTION OF THE SIZE YOU ARE MAKING          



0-3 Months: (Circumference 13-14” and Height 5 - 5.5”)

Round 7: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st around, join. - 35

Repeat Round 7 in orange yarn until the beanie measures 4 inches tall for newborn or 4.5 inches tall for 1-3 months, then change to yellow and Repeat Round 7 until the beanie measures until 5 inches tall for newborn or 5.5 inches tall for 1-3 months.  Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

3-6 Months: (Circumference 15-16” and Height 6”)

Round 7: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 7 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 8 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 39

Round 8: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st around, join. - 39

Repeat Round 8 in orange yarn until the beanie measures 5 inches tall, then change to yellow and Repeat Round 8 until the beanie measures until 6 inches tall.  Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

6-12 Months: (Circumference 16-18” and Height 6.5”)

Round 7: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 4 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 4 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 42

Round 8: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st around, join. - 42

Repeat Round 8 in orange yarn until the beanie measures 5.5 inches tall, then change to yellow and Repeat Round 8 until the beanie measures until 6.5 inches tall.  Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.


1-2 Years: (Circumference 18-20” and Height 7”)

Round 7: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 4 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 4 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 42

3-10 Years: (Circumference 19-20” and Height 7.5”)
