Chef Hat Crochet Pattern

If you enjoy cooking or baking then the Chef Hat crochet pattern is a fun hat to work up.  This beanie can be a fun creative prop for photos, kids dress up or any other idea!  This crochet pattern uses simple stitches to work up and is a pretty quick project as well.  You can also customize the chef hat and make in any color or combination and get as creative as you want!

Materials

  • Yarn: Medium, Weight 4; Your Color Choice. Sample is made with Vanna’s Choice (White)
  • Hook: K (6.50mm)
  • Tapestry Needle, Scissors and Measuring Tape
  • Optional: Ribbon

Sizing

  • Gauge: 12 Stitches and 10 Rows = 4”x4” (hdc)
  • These measurements are approximated, measure head to get accurate sizing needed.

Special Stitches: 

  • Hdc2tog (Half Double Crochet): Yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through all 5 loops.
  • Sc2tog (Single Crochet): Insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through all 3 loops.

Notes

  • Chain 1 will NOT count as a stitch.
  • Joining: When ending the rounds, you will join with a slip stitch into the 1st stitch (not the chain 1).
