The Christmas Shawl Crochet Along has ended and I have updated this blog post to include the pictures of the Christmas Shawl in color. Be sure to follow along and subscribe to our Newsletter, so that you know when the 2020 Christmas Advent Calendar will be available for pre-order.
It's beginning to look a lot like a Christmas Shawl Crochet Along (yes, I am currently listening to that song as I write this and changing the words up a bit). I have been wanting to create an advent style box for a long time, several years but I never knew how I wanted to create it. When we began making our Leither Collection Subscription Boxes, I knew I wanted to design something with the similar thought in mind but go a little more all out it because it was going to be a Christmas Advent Calendar Yarn Box styled box where we could add MORE yarn and come up with more treat/gift items to make the box extra special. I started planning this box last December but really got into the final details of planning it when we began taking pre-orders for the box around July/August of this year.

We recently wrapped up our 13 Days of Halloween Yarn Box Crochet Along on October 31st and that was a lot of fun to create and for us to join together to make a fun 13 day crochet along project. I have been missing our daily check-in's to share progress on the Pumpkin Patch Scarf that we made. So, I am so thrilled to do this again and make it even longer this time. Over the past several months during our pre-order period we had multiple options available for the yarn boxes, depending upon how many items you wanted or if you were on a budget, I believe at one point we had 5 different boxes available, as the time drew closer to the pre-order ending we had less options available. Even though we had 5 different boxes they all and a variety of options on how many mini skeins you would receive (12 or 24) I wanted to design a crochet pattern that would work for both the 12 and 24 mini skeins. The Christmas Shawl is designed to either be a cowl style shawl or a full length shawl, either way it is gorgeous, snuggly and fun to make.
Beanies that I love!!

The written crochet pattern includes instructions to the shawl, so that you can customize it with the 12 mini skeins or the 24 mini skeins. If you weren't able to get an Christmas Advent Calendar Yarn Box, don't worry I am going to tell you what you need to make the Christmas Shawl.

If you want to make the crochet pattern following the 12 or 24 different yarn color method, then you are going to need 49 yards of each color, so if you are following the 12 day CAL then you will need 12 different colors that are about 49 yards each. If you are following the 24 day CAL then you will need 24 different colors that are about 49 yards each.
There is another option with making the Christmas Shawl crochet pattern, you could use just a few colors or make in one solid color, basically this is a creative crochet project where you choose your yarn adventure. If you are following the 12 mini skein path then you will need 588 yards total. If you are following the 24 mini skein path then you will need 1,176 yards total.
This crochet pattern is designed to be made over 12 or 24 days and each day you will need approximately 30 minutes each day. I know with the holidays fast approaching, you might not have a lot of crochet time in the day but if you could carve out just 30 minutes for you each day and enjoy some self crochet time and make something for you, it will be worth it. By the end of the 24 days you will have a gorgeous Christmas Shawl. Because this shawl is designed for you to create your own path if you didn't receive an advent box, even if you did receive an advent box the colors are so fun that it doesn't have to be Christmas time for you to wear it.

Yes, the crochet pattern and this blog post is in black in white for the Christmas Shawl and that is because those that purchased the Christmas Advent Calendar Yarn Box will only be opening one color a day and everyday it will be a surprise, so I want to keep it a secret until we reveal each day and spoil the surprise adventure.
There is a tutorial coming for the Christmas Shawl that will be available on December 1st when we begin.
Make sure to join our Facebook group where the crochet along will be held but I will be sharing the unboxing a progress photos everyday on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
