Materials
- Yarn: Medium, Weight 4; Beige, White, Red and Black Yarn. Sample is made with Loops and Threads Impeccable (Soft Taupe, White, Cherry and Black)
- Hooks: H (5.00mm) & K (6.50mm)
- Tapestry Needle, Scissors and Measuring Tape
- 2 Black Buttons
Sizing
- Gauge: 12 Stitches and 10 Rows = 4”x4” (hdc)
- These measurements are approximated, measure head to get accurate sizing needed.
Pattern Key
- St/Sts: Stitch(es)

Notes
- Chain 1 will NOT count as a stitch.
- Joining: When ending the rounds, you will join with a slip stitch into the 1st stitch (not the chain 1).
0-3 Months Beanie: (Circumference 13-14” and Height 5 - 5.5”)
You Need Your K Hook, Beige and White Yarn
Start with Beige Yarn, Make a Magic Ring,
Round 1: Ch 1, 7 sc in loop, join with a sl st in the 1st sc, pull tight. - 7
Round 2: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 14
Round 3: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next st; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 21
Round 4: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 28
Round 5: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 3 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 3 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 35
Round 6: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st around, join. - 35
Repeat Round 6 until the beanie measures 5 inches tall for newborn or 5.5 inches tall for 1-3 months, ending the last round with white yarn. Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.
Red Accent
You Need Your Tapestry Needle and Red Yarn
Start in the back of the beanie, weave around the beanie in a diagonal fashion. Start at the top of the white round, skip one stitch and weave in the yarn underneath the next stitch.
Eyes
You Need Your Tapestry Needle, 2 Black Buttons and Black Yarn
Sew two black buttons onto the beanie.
Cheeks (Make 2)
You Need Your H Hook and Red Yarn
Make a Magic Ring,
Round 1: Ch 1, 7 sc in loop, join with a sl st in the 1st sc, pull tight. - 7
Round 2: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 14
Fasten off and leave a long tail to sew into beanie.
Mouth
You Need Your Tapestry Needle and White Yarn
Start at one of the cheeks (try and make the start of the white hidden under the red cheek) go down diagonally about ½ inch - ¾ inch long. Then place two horizontal pieces about ½ inch - ¾ inch long, then place one more diagonal back up to the other cheek (hide the end of the white under the other red cheek). Fasten off and weave in all loose ends.
Cape Cover: (11 ¾ inches tall and 7 ½ wide (the middle section))
You Need Your K Hook and Beige and White Yarn
Start with Beige Yarn and Chain 11,
Row 1: 1 hdc in 2nd ch from the hook and each st across. - 10
Row 2: Ch 1 and turn, 2 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st across until last st,
2 hdc in last st. - 12
Row 3: Ch 1 and turn, 2 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st across until last st,
2 hdc in last st. - 14
Row 4: Ch 1 and turn, 2 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st across until last st,
2 hdc in the last st. - 16
Row 5: Ch 1 and turn, 2 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st across until last st,
2 hdc in last st. - 18
Row 6: Ch 1 and turn, 2 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st across until last st,
2 hdc in last st. - 20
Row 7: Ch 1 and turn, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st across until last st,
2 hdc in last st. - 22
Rows 8-19: Ch 1 and turn, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st across. - 22

Change to White Yarn
Edging: Rounds 1-2: Ch 1, do NOT turn, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in next st and each st around, join.
Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.
Accent
You Need Your Tapestry Needle and Red Yarn
Pick a spot and start in the back of the cape weave the yarn around the cape in a diagonal fashion. Start at the top of the white round, skip one stitch and weave the yarn underneath the next stitch in the last row, repeat all the way around the cape. Fasten off and weave in loose ends
