How To Foundation Double Crochet

How To Foundation Double Crochet

Do you know how to Foundation Double Crochet (or Chainless Foundation)???  If not, you should watch this video tutorial on how to make the foundation double crochet, or if you do know, this tutorial can teach you a tip or two! I love using the foundation double crochet technique.  Why?  For many reasons, let me tell you about it!!

Instead of chaining and then working the double crochet into the chain (which sometimes can look a little messy) you can do the foundation double crochet, where you work both the chain and the double crochet at the same time and the completed chain and first row look gorgeous and neat!  Another reason I love this technique is for making projects where my circumference is VERY important, I don’t want my piece to shrink, like a skirt for example.  Another fabulous reason to use the foundation double crochet technique is when making large blankets, let’s say you have to chain 325 and then double crochet back, well that is a lot of chains to count and keep track of, but if you do the foundation double crochet instead you make both the chain and double crochet at the same time and you can count your stitches a lot easier.  All in all, I love the foundation double crochet technique.  So if you haven’t learned it yet or want to freshen up on your skills, watch this how to tutorial.  I will not only show you how to make the foundation double crochet but I will also show how to turn it into a round, if you have a circular project.

Get ready for something exciting!!
