Did you know that we have a monthly crochet subscription box? With the love of crochet and everything about it we started a crochet subscription box back in October 2018. I have been designing crochet patterns since 2012 and love coming up with new designs and having a theme to create those designs really inspires me. After my husband started making crochet hooks last year after my crochet injury, I became inspired to crochet even more! Then I started hand dyeing yarn and designing based on the colorway and weight of the yarn, that is when the Leither Collection Subscription Box was born!

Let's dive into the April 2019 box! Last month we went with a jelly bean explosion but this month we wanted to go with a warm theme. The yarn was dyed with a deep blue and honey yellow, with a little cream and green from the blue and yellow and running into each other. The colorway is called Starry Night and it is a squishy 100% superwash merino that is a dk weight! Dk weight is amazing to work with, you still get that thick like yarn but it is super lightweight!

Lets talk about these gorgeous crochet hooks, we wanted to go with a neutral color theme but wanted it to have amazing little details! Our funfetti crochet hooks have three colors in them, brown, blue and cream. Even though all the crochet hooks have these three gorgeous color, each crochet hook is unique with the way the colors show themselves. Our natural hooks this month is made with our bocote wood, this wood has a brown color with a unique black grain, every crochet hook is unique in it's own way. Not only are these crochet hooks gorgeous but they are comfortable and designed to fit into your head very comfortably.
Our splurge item in our box this month was the beeswax butterfly lotion bar. Beeswax has many uses but two that apply to us crocheters is for dry hands and hand pain. Not only do these lotion look gorgeous the smell amazing too. Making these lotion bars were a lot of fun and they included the natural ingredients of beeswax, shea butter, coconut oil and lemongrass oil. A little bit of these lotion bars go a long way!
Let's talk about the crochet pattern this month. I knew what I wanted to make with the Starry Night Yarn but it wasn't until I saw it worked up in this yarn that I really saw the Starry Night come to life! It is amazing what a transition yarn can do, from a dyed hank yarn, to caking up the yarn and then crocheting it with a gorgeous texture.

We love putting together the boxes every month, it is a lot of fun to put together every piece that goes into the box. We brainstorm what colors we want the yarn to be and if the crochet hooks will completely coordinate or complement the yarn. Once I have the colors for the yarn chosen, then I decide what I am going to make, I let the colors of the yarn tell me what it wants to be! If we can select a splurge item that will coordinate with the crochet pattern, we do that but it is also fun finding creative splurge items that you may not think that you need!
