Leither Collection Subscription Box March 2019

Leither Collection Subscription Box March 2019

Did you know that we have a monthly crochet subscription box? With the love of crochet and everything about it we started a crochet subscription box back in October 2018.  I have been designing crochet patterns since 2012 and love coming up with new designs and having a theme to create those designs really inspires me.  After my husband started making crochet hooks last year after my crochet injury, I became inspired to crochet even more!  Then I started hand dyeing yarn and designing based on the colorway and weight of the yarn, that is when the Leither Collection Subscription Box was born!

Let's dive into the March 2019 box!  Spring is here, so we wanted the box to have a jelly bean explosion feeling without the calories of jelly beans!   The yarn was dyed with spring colors in mind, purple, green, pink, yellow and cream! The colorway is called Spring Time and it is a squishy 100% superwash merino that is a dk weight! Dk weight is amazing to work with, you still get that thick like yarn but it is super lightweight!

Beanies that I love!!

1.  Vintage Ripple Beanie   2. Morgan Beanie   3. Jelly Bean Beanie

Lets talk about these gorgeous crochet hooks, they not only coordinate with our spring time yarn but the detail in these are amazing!  The crochet hooks this months had a spring like feeling as well, the funfetti boxes were yellow and the natural boxes were a gorgeous maple, which is like a light cream.  The crochet hook size is a 6.5mm (which is my favorite size) and not only is it gorgeous but really lightweight, which makes crocheting comfortable.

Next on the list is the crochet pattern, you are going to need a pattern to put the hand dyed yarn and crochet hook to use and this month I designed the Spring Time Cowl. With this design I wanted the colorway to pop through, so I kept the texture simple but the combination on simple crochet stitches created a gorgeous texture.  Just imagine throwing a bunch of spring jelly beans in the air you will have the spring time cowl to wear!

I am still obsessed with the gorgeous texture of the Spring Time Cowl!

Now lets talk about the last but not least item in the box.  Every month there is a splurge item, it is either something that coordinates with the crochet pattern or a fun gadget or tool to add to your crocheters tool box. This month the splurge item were scissors, well not just any scissors, they are adorable bear scissors. These scissors are not only adorable, but they are small embroidery scissors, so they fit nicely in your notions bag.

We love putting together the boxes every month, it is a lot of fun to put together every piece that goes into the box.  We brainstorm what colors we want the yarn to be and if the crochet hooks will completely coordinate or complement the yarn.  Once I have the colors for the yarn chosen, then I decide what I am going to make, I let the colors of the yarn tell me what it wants to be! If we can select a splurge item that will coordinate with the crochet pattern, we do that but it is also fun finding creative splurge items that you may bot think that you need!

If you received the March 2019 box I would love to know what you favorite item from the box was your favorite.  If you didn't receive the box, would still love to know which item I showed you was your favorite!

Don't forget you can join at any time to receive the next month's box, you can sign up at www.leithercollection.com and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out!
