The Lemon Beanie sure is sweet like Lemonade! The Lemon Beanie is fun and simple beanie to make! Could you imagine little kiddos having a lemonade stand wearing Lemon Beanies? That would be so adorable! Okay, someone must do that and share a photo! The Lemon Beanie crochet pattern includes sizes from newborn to large adult, so everyone will be able to wear a Lemon Beanie! This crochet pattern uses simple crochet stitches to make and then just a little but of sewing involved to get the lemon topper and leaf put on top. Get ready to make Lemon Beanies!

Materials

  • Yarn: Medium, Weight 4; Yellow and Green. Example made with Vanna’s Choice (Ducky & Kelly Green)
  • Hooks: H (5.00mm) & K (6.50mm)
  • Tapestry Needle, Scissors and Measuring Tape
  • Optional: Fiber Fill

Sizing

  • Gauge: 12 Stitches and 10 Rows = 4”x4” (hdc) with K hook
  • These measurements are approximated, measure head to get accurate sizing needed.

Pattern Key

  • St/Sts: Stitch(es)
  • Sl St: Slip Stitch
  • Ch: Chain
  • Sc: Single Crochet
  • Hdc: Half Double Crochet
  • Dc: Double Crochet

Notes

  • Chain 1 will NOT count as a stitch.
  • Joining: When ending the rounds, you will join with a slip stitch into the 1st stitch (not the chain 1).

Lemon Beanie Crochet Pattern

ALL SIZES: (0-3M, 3-6M, 6-12M, 1-2Y, 3-10Y, Teen, Adult and Large Adult) You Need Your K Hook and Your Color Choice of Yarn.

Make a Magic Ring,

Round 1: Ch 1, 7 sc in loop, join with a sl st in the 1st sc, pull tight. - 7

Round 2: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 14

Round 3: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next st; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 21

Round 4: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 28

Round 5: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 3 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 3 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 35

CONTINUE TO THE SECTION OF THE SIZE YOU ARE MAKING

0-3 Months: (Circumference 13-14” and Height 5 - 5.5”)

Round 6: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st around, join. - 35

Repeat Round 6 until the beanie measures 5 inches tall for a newborn or 5.5 inches tall for 1-3 months.  Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

3-6 Months: (Circumference 15-16” and Height 6”)

Round 6: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 7 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 8 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 39

Round 7: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st around, join. - 39

Repeat Round 7 until the beanie measures 6 inches tall.  Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.


6-12 Months: (Circumference 16-18” and Height 6.5”)

Round 6: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 4 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 4 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 42

Round 7: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st around, join. - 42

Repeat Round 7 until the beanie measures 6.5 inches tall.  Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

1-2 Years: (Circumference 18-20” and Height 7”)

Round 6: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 4 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 4 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 42

Round 7: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc next st, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 19 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 45

Round 8: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st around, join. - 45

Repeat Round 8 until the beanie measures 7 inches tall.  Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

3-10 Years: (Circumference 19-20” and Height 7.5”) 

Round 6: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 4 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 4 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 42

Round 7: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in the next 5 sts, *2 hdc in the next st, 1 hdc in next 5 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 49

Round 8: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st around, join. - 49

Repeat Round 8 until the beanie measures 7.5 inches tall.  Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

Teen, Adult and Large Adult: (Circumference 22-23” and Height 7.5” Teen, 8” Adult and 8.5” Large Adult) Round 6: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 4 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 4 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 42

Round 7: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in the next 5 sts, *2 hdc in the next st, 1 hdc in next 5 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 49

Round 5: Ch 1, 1 dc in same st, 1 dc in next 6 sts, *2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next 6 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 dc in same st as ch 1, join. - 56

Round 9: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st around, join. - 56

Repeat Round 9 until the beanie measures 7.5 inches tall for a teen, 8 inches tall for an adult or 8.5 inches tall for a large adult.  Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

Top of the Lemon

You Need Your K Hook and Yellow Yarn. 

Make a Magic Ring,

Round 1: Ch 1, 5 sc in loop, join with a sl st in the 1st sc, pull tight. - 5

Round 2: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in next st and each st around, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 10

Round 3-5: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st around, join. - 10

Fasten off and leave a long tail to sew onto the center top of the beanie.

Optional: Fill the top with Fiber Fill to help keep its round shape.

Leaf

You Need Your H Hook and Green Yarn. 

Make a sl knot, leaving a 10” tail

Ch 9

Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 hdc in next st, 1 dc in next 3 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in next st, sl st in next st. You are now going to work on the other side of the base chain.

Row 2: Ch 1, sl st in next st, 1 sc in next st, 1 hdc in next st, 1 dc in next 3 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in next st, sl st in next st.

Fasten off and weave in any loose ends, sew just the corner of the leaf onto the beanie.
