
I loved designing the Mouse Baby, it is a fun simple newborn prop and it creates a creative newborn prop! Newborn photography sessions are a fabulous time to create the fun safe photography props. The Mouse Baby prop can be simple or create a storybook theme, totally up to you. This crochet pattern uses simple crochet stitches and some hand sewing to create this fun prop.

Materials
- Yarn: Medium, Weight 4; Grey, Pink, White and Yellow. Example made I Love This Yarn (Grey Beard, Pink, Ivory) and Vanna’s Choice (Ducky)
- Hooks: H (5.00mm) & K (6.50mm)
- Tapestry Needle, Scissors and Measuring Tape
- 2 Buttons for Eyes
- Optional: Fiber Fill for the cheese
Sizing
- Beanie, Ears (Inner & Outer), Tushy and Tail Gauge: 12 Stitches and 10 Rows = 4”x4” (hdc using K Hook)
- Nose and Cheese (Front, Back & Side) Gauge: 16 Stitches and 16 Rows = 4”x4” (sc using H Hook)
Pattern Key

Special Stitches
- Tr (Treble Stitch): Yarn over twice, insert hook into stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, *yarn over and pull through 2 loops; repeat 3 times.
Notes
- Chain 1 will NOT count as a stitch.
- Joining: When ending the rounds, you will join with a slip stitch into the 1st stitch (not the chain 1).
Mouse Beanie 0-3 Months: (Circumference 13-14” and Height 5.5”)
You Need Your K Hook and Grey Yarn.
Make a Magic Ring,
Round 1: Ch 1, 7 sc in loop, join with a sl st in the 1st sc, pull tight. - 7
Round 2: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 14
Round 3: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next st; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 21
Round 4: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 28
Round 5: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 3 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 3 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 35

Repeat Round 6 until the beanie measures 5 inches tall for newborn or 5.5 inches tall for 1-3 months. Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.
Mouse Outer Ears (Make 2)
You Need K Hook and Grey Yarn
Make a Magic Ring,
Round 1: Ch 1, 7 sc in loop, join with a sl st in the 1st sc, pull tight. - 7
Round 2: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 14
Round 3: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next st; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 21
Fasten off and weave in any loose ends, leaving a long tail to sew the ears onto the beanie (sew the inner ears on before sewing the ears onto the beanie).
Mouse Inner Ears (Make 2)
You Need K Hook and Pink Yarn
Make a Magic Ring,
Round 1: Ch 1, 7 sc in loop, join with a sl st in the 1st sc, pull tight. - 7
Round 2: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 14
Fasten off and weave in any loose ends, leaving a long tail to sew the inner ears onto the outer ears, fasten off and weave in any loose ends, using the outer ears tail, sew the ears along rounds 3 and 4.
Mouse Nose
You Need H Hook and Pink Yarn
Note: You will be working all of these stitches into the magic ring.
Make a Magic ring,
Round 1: Ch 1, 3 tr, 3 dc, ch 1, 1 tr, ch 1, 3 dc, 3 tr, sl st.
Pull the center tight and fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew the nose onto the beanie
Mouse Whiskers
You Need Tapestry Needle and White Yarn
Cut two strands of yarn about 10 inches long, line the 2 strands together and tie a knot in the center of the two strands joining them together. Using your tapestry needle, work each side of the whiskers behind the nose to secure and then pull them up each side of the nose and trim for desired length.
Mouse Eyes (2)
You Need 2 Black Buttons, Tapestry Needle and White Yarn
Sew each eye onto the beanie above the nose.
Tushy Cover: (6 ½” diameter)
You Need Your K Hook and Grey Yarn.
Make a Magic Ring
Round 1: Ch 1, 7 sc in loop, join with a sl st in the 1st sc, pull tight. - 7
Round 2: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 14

Mouse Tail
You Need Your K Hook and Grey Yarn.
Ch 17
Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in next ch and each ch across. - 16
Fasten off and leave a long tail to sew the tail onto the center of the tushy cover. If the tail doesn’t curl on its own, you can wrap the tail around your finger to give it the curly effect.
Cheese (Front and Back) (Make 2)
You Need Your H Hook and Yellow Yarn.
Note: Ch 1, will not count as a stitch.

Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in next ch and each ch across. - 16
Rows 2-4: Ch 1 and turn, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in next st and each st across. - 16

Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in next ch and each ch across. - 4
Rows 2-56: Ch 1 and turn, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in next st and each st across. - 4
(Or until the side measures 14 inches long)
Fasten off and weave in any loose ends, leaving a long tail to join the front and back to the side. Sew the cheese together starting with the point of the front and sew around. Then sew the back to the other side of the cheese side. Once almost complete stuff the cheese with fiber fill, then complete sewing and fasten off.
