The Noah Beanie is a fun brimmed and simple beanie.  This beanie is fabulous to customize in any color and can be made for everyone.  On each side of the brim you can add a button, it is a great way to add pops of color or give an accent to a fun beanie.  This beanie can be made for a photography prop or everyday where for everyone.  It uses simple crochet stitches to work up, so if you know basic crochet, you will be able to whip up this beanie in no time at all. For baby sizes, you can easily pair it with the Simply Sweet Baby Bottoms

Materials

  • Yarn: Medium, Weight 4; Your Color Choice. Sample is made with Vanna’s Choice (Charcoal Grey)
  • Hook: K (6.50mm)
  • 2 Buttons
  • Tapestry Needle, Scissors and Measuring Tape

Sizing

  • Gauge: 12 Stitches and 10 Rows = 4”x4” (hdc)
  • These measurements are approximated, measure head to get accurate sizing needed.

Round 1: Ch 1, 7 sc in loop, join with a sl st in the 1st sc, pull tight. - 7

Round 2: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 14

Round 3: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next st; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 21

Round 4: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 28

Round 5: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 3 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 3 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 35

0-3 Months: (Circumference 13-14” and Height 5 - 5.5”)

Round 6: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st around, join. - 35

Repeat Round 6 until the beanie measures 4.5 inches tall for newborn or 5 inches tall for 1-3 months, then continue to brim.

Brim - Row 1: Ch 1, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc next 10 sts, 1 hdc next 13 sts. - 11 sc, 13 hdc

Row 2: Ch 1 and turn, 1 hdc in same st, hdc2tog, 1 hdc next 7 sts, hdc2tog, 1 hdc next st. - 11

Row 3: Ch 1 and turn, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in next st and the next 8 sts, 1 sc in next 11 sts of the rest of the beanie to match the other side of Row 1 of the brim, join. - 33

Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

3-6 Months: (Circumference 15-16” and Height 6”)

Round 6: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 7 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 8 sts; repeat from*, end with 1 hdc in same st as ch 1, join. - 39

Round 7: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st and each st around, join. - 39

Repeat Round 7 until the beanie measures 5.5 inches tall, them continue to brim.

Brim - Row 1: Ch 1, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc next 12 sts, 1 hdc next 13 sts. - 13 sc, 13 hdc

Row 2: Ch 1 and turn, 1 hdc in same st, hdc2tog, 1 hdc next 7 sts, hdc2tog, 1 hdc next st. - 11

Row 3: Ch 1 and turn, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in next st and the next 10 sts, 1 sc in next 13 sts of the rest of the beanie to match the other side of Row 1 of the brim, join. - 37

0-3 Months and 3-6 Months: Foundation Double Crochet 16

6-12 Months and 1-2 Years: Foundation Double Crochet 18

3-10 Years: Foundation Double Crochet 22

Teen, Adult, Large Adult: Foundation Double Crochet 24

Fasten off and sew the band along the last round of the beanie before beginning the brim.

Sew 1 button onto each side of the Brim Band
