Sunflower Bonnet Crochet Pattern

Sunflower Bonnet Crochet Pattern

I love spring time, I love beautiful flowers, I always have. So of course I had to design a Sunflower Bonnet. The Sunflower is beautiful to make but you could use any color combo and create any flower that you like. The petals are created with two strands of yarn at once, which makes it easier to make the petals stand up straight. This crochet pattern uses simple crochet stitches to create the bonnet.  So grab your yarn, hook and get ready to get hooked on the Sunflower Bonnet.

Petals (Make about 9-15)

You Need Your N Hook and Your Color Choice of Yarn

For each Petal cut 4 strands about 10.5 feet long.

Make a sl knot and leave a 10 inch tail

Ch 9

Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 hdc in next st, 1 dc in next 3 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in next st, sl st in next st. You are now going to work on the other side of the base ch.

Row 2: Ch 1, sl st in next st, 1 sc in next st, 1 hdc in next st, 1 dc in next 3 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in next st, sl st in next st.

Fasten off and weave in any loose ends and leaving a long tail to sew onto the bonnet.

You will want to place them close together with them being just a little bit “front and back”.  When sewing on the petals, you will want the petals to fold a little bit making an “L” shape.  After you sew two petals on, you are going to take a long piece of yarn, and sew the sides together, to keep them from spreading apart.  Every time you sew a new petal onto the bonnet, sew the sides together, so you can keeps gaps hidden.

Ties (Make about 2)

You Need Your N Hook and Your Color Choice of Yarn (Same Color as Bonnet)

Cut 12 strands of yarn (6 for each side of the bonnet) of yarn, approximately 50 inches long.  Using your N Hook, pull 6 strands through corner of the last round (evenly), braid until you have reached your desired length, then tie a knot and cut off excess yarn.  (Repeat on other side)
