Winnie the Pooh Crochet Kit Review

Winnie the Pooh Crochet Kit Review

Winnie the Pooh was a favorite of mine growing up and when I saw the Winnie the Pooh crochet kit, I had to have it, it was so adorable and brought me back to being a kid again!  I have had the Winnie the Pooh crochet kit for a little while in my office but hadn't had any spare time to work it up.  Recently, my youngest daughter Elizabeth has discovered Winnie the Pooh and has become obsessed with him anytime she sees Winnie the Pooh somewhere when we are out shopping or on Netflix. So we pulled out all of the Winnie the Pooh stuffed animals we had from my older girls, we also had a Winnie the Pooh stuffed animal from when I was little and she started carrying them around with her everywhere!

Well earlier last week she discovered the Winnie the Pooh crochet kit in my office and wanted to get down off the shelf (it was up high where she couldn't reach it). I took the kit down and she wanted to see what was inside, she thought it would have the characters inside, she found the yarn and crochet book and started flipping through the book.  She would point and tell me who the characters where if she knew their name or want me to tell her who they were (absolutely adorable by the way).  I decided that since I have had this kit for awhile and I have a little girl who has become obsessed with Winnie the Pooh like I had when I was her age, that it was time to find some time in the day and work up one of the characters, since our favorite is Winnie the Pooh, I decided to make him for her and it only took me about 3 hours to completely make him.

Beanies that I Love!!

1.  Vintage Ripple Beanie   2. Morgan Beanie   3. Jelly Bean Beanie

I don't normally crochet amigurumi, if I crochet something it is usually a hat, blanket, socks, cowl, baby accessory and now garments.  But it was a lot of fun to go out of my comfort zone and crochet something completely out of the ordinary.  Is there something that you have wanted to crochet but it isn't your normal?  Amigurumi is mine, I have made Elizabeth a giraffe when I was pregnant with her about 3 years ago and I have crocheted fish and other little accessories for photography props, but nothing like this. It was a lot of fun and I am excited to look for some other kits to try.  I recently discovered a princess kit that I am wanting to try.  I found the instructions in the kit very easy to understand and even though I am not a pro at amigurumi, I felt like it went a lot quicker than I thought it would.

One of the many fabulous things about these kits is that it does come with yarn to make at least one or two characters in full, so you can start crocheting immediately. I however, swapped out the crochet hook for one our Leither Co. crochet hooks because using a small hook like this can cause crochet pain and for me I am prone to having crochet pain in my hand if I don't use the correct crochet hook. One of my recommendations when working up the kit, is before you start making the characters, take a few minutes and cake up or roll that yarn into balls to make it a lot easier to work up so you don't have a giant mess.

My oldest daughter who turned 10 a few months ago, has picked up crochet lately and she was asking she would be able to crochet the characters and I was thinking about it and realized how simple is was to make and that the most advanced part was the decreasing and that you can't rush through sewing.  I am thinking of passing the crochet book down to her and there are endless amount of kits to choose from and I am thinking of getting her a kit for Easter and probably her Birthday and Christmas.

I would love to know if you have worked up this kit or any of the other kits and which one was your favorite?
